CHELMSFORD VICTORY FOR WATHEER

In form Marcus Tregoning came tantalisingly close to providing a double for his long time patron Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum at Chelmsford on Friday evening.
Watheer won the opening two year old maiden race over seven furlongs before the free running Mukalal was just foiled in his bid to complete a hat-trick when he was caught close home after attempting to make all the running in a valuable mile handicap.
He possesses plenty of pace and the way he dominated proceedings for much of the race suggests he remains a horse of some potential.
Watheer had run with promise when fourth on his debut at Salisbury nineteen days ago and took a timely step forward with a hard earned victory by three-quarters of a length from Barbarianatthegate.
He was given a determined ride by substitute jockey Kieran Shoemark when Jim Crowley failed to arrive in time from Doncaster.
Watheer took time to warm to his task but he stayed on well once turning for home and was firmly on top at the finish.
