Four Timer for Imphal

Imphal became the first horse from the yard to complete a four timer this season with a late winning charge at Lingfield on Thursday that took him to the front in the final strides.

He has been ridden to all of four of his victories by our hard working apprentice Tyler Saunders who continues to shine as he gains racing experience.

Imphal did not help his cause in the Class 5 two mile handicap with a sluggish start but he began to make ground over the last half mile, moved closer on the bend and came with a strong run between Fulham and Veiled Secret to snatch the verdict in the tightest possible finish.

The photo showed that he had prevailed by a short head from Fulham with a head back to the long time leader Veiled Secret.

Imphal then had to survive a stewards inquiry though the head on video replay showed that Veiled Secret had drifted right into him as he made his challenge.

Saunders reported “Imphal helped me out there after jumping slowly from the stalls. He is going to improve again next year.

“I ride him quite a lot at home and he’s an exuberant horse who enjoys what he does.”

Saunders has now ridden ten winners and is keen to maintain the momentum.

“I’d like to keep improving and help out the boss as much as he helps me”, he said.
