DECISIVE SUCCESS FOR DESERT FOOTSTEPS AT CHEPSTOW
Desert Footsteps maintained the red hot form of Marcus Tregoning’s team with a decisive success on her handicap debut in a Class 6 nursery over a mile at Chepstow on Monday.
Her victory came 48 hours after the yard’s superb double on Saturday provided by Quietness and Corriamo.
Desert Footsteps jockey Rossa Ryan was wearing the Pakenham colours carried by Sir Percy when he famously won the Derby for Tregoning in 2006.
Given that she ran on Monday off an opening mark of 56 she is unlikely to be reaching the same dizzy heights.
But having broken her duck off such a modest level you would expect her to be still competitive once the handicapper has had his say.
Desert Footsteps, who was homebred by the Pakenhams at the Old Suffolk Stud, had a shown a glimpse of ability in her first two races, despite starting slowly, before running with more promise last time at Salisbury when sixth in a classy novice race.
Desert Footsteps was much more streetwise at Chepstow where she bounced out in front and made all the running on her way to beating the top weight Imola by two lengths with the third horse seven lengths further back.
