FANTASTIC SATURDAY DOUBLE
Marcus Tregoning enjoyed a fine double inside forty minutes with his only two runners on Saturday.
First to strike was Meadram ridden by University student Alice Tregoning in a Class 6 handicap for amateur riders over ten furlongs at Chelmsford.
Alice sensibly declined to get involved with a scorching early pace and soon had Meadram in a lovely rhythm before they came through with a well timed run to gain the day by half a length from Shield of Honour.
The successful rider is reading Geography at Exeter University and rides out for her father at Whitsbury at weekend and in the holidays.
The success of Meadram was very much a family affair with her brother George in charge of the horse in the paddock before the race and in the winner’s enclosure afterwards.
Spanish Blaze then completed a rewarding afternoon for Marcus Tregoning by landing a valuable Class 2 handicap over seven furlongs at Newmarket in the colours of Whitsbury 1V.
The winner has been a model of consistency all season and was full of running as he led just over a furlong out on his way to comfortably landing the £23,193 first prize in the hands of Trevor Whelan.
Given that Spanish Blaze seems to enjoy plenty of cut in the ground he could have more to offer in the weeks ahead.
