RIBHI WINS AGAIN AT SALISBURY

Ribhi erased the memory of a wasted trip to Newmarket last week with a hard earned success in a Class 2 Conditions Stakes over six furlongs at Salisbury on Thursday.

Hopes of a good run in the Group 3 Tattersalls Stakes seven days ago were dashed when he took off with Jim Crowley on the way to post which inevitably led to his withdrawal at the start.

This time, sporting a red hood, Ribhi was more relaxed as Jim walked him past the stands for the first furlong before cantering him steadily on his own for the rest of the way while his rivals were still circling the paddock.

The race was run at a fierce tempo in stormy weather at Salisbury and Ribhi, carrying a 4 lbs penalty, was briefly outpaced before gradually closing on the leader Atheby and edging ahead close home in a  bunch finish.

He showed a pleasing attitude as he sealed the victory by a short head and Jim reported afterwards that his mount would be well suited by stepping back up in trip on better ground.

The imposing grey son of Dark Angel is a colt of some potential and has now won twice at his local track from three starts.
