MISS BLUEBELLE WINS AT CHELMSFORD
Miss Bluebelle got off the mark at the fourth attempt with a narrow victory on her handicap debut over ten furlongs at Chelmsford on Thursday.
Shortly after the start she survived a moment of alarm as she stumbled after appearing to clip heels with another runner. She recovered quickly, racing keenly before settling into a nice rhythm in midfield.
Switched wide by Dougie Costello turning for home Miss Bluebelle began to make steady headway before laying down a sustained challenge to Lethal Touch in the last furlong which took her into the lead in the shadows of the winning post.
The winning margin was a neck with fully five lengths back to the third. It was a thoroughly pleasing performance by a lightly raced filly who found plenty for pressure and will surely improve with experience.
She runs in the colours of her joint breeders Sir Thomas Pilkington and the Rogers family.
Marcus Tregoning has now been successful with three of the offspring of Miss Bluebelle’s dam Miss Bellbird.
Given that Miss Bluebelle gained her initial victory off a modest mark of 62 her trainer will be looking to place to place her to good effect in the months ahead.
