ANOTHER WINNER WITH SPIRIT OF ANGEL VICTORIOUS AT CHELMSFORD

Spirit of Angel completed a rewarding 24 hours for Marcus Tregoning with a narrow victory in the concluding ten furlong Class 6 handicap at Chelmsford on Thursday evening.

Long days are all part of the job for the trainer who was at Bath on Wednesday evening to supervise the success of Freckles and then made the long journey from Whitsbury to Essex to saddle Spirit of Angel who he owns in partnership with Owenstown Stud.

The drive home to Hampshire will have passed more quickly thanks to the spirited triumph of Spirit of Angel who stayed on resolutely in the final furlong before edging out Percy Alexander by a neck.

The winner is a progressive gelding by Dark Angel, and had taken a useful step forward last time at Lingfield on his seasonal debut.

The way he finished at Chelmsford offered encouragement that he could improve again as he gains experience.

After racing keenly in the early stages he was doing all his best work late on in a manner which indicated that in time he will get further than ten furlongs.
