FLUENT SUCCESS FOR AL AZHAR
Al Azhar doubled his score for the season with a fluent success off a mark of 72 at Chelmsford on Thursday ridden by Alvaro Sainz from Spain in a Fegentri race for gentleman riders.
Sporting his National colours on an armband Sainz settled his mount at the rear of the field before they made relentless progress on the bend on the way to a cosy triumph by three quarters of a length from Warning Sign.
Al Azhar is building a useful CV on all weather tracks over staying trips for his owners John and Stephen Wallis and Nona Baker.
He appeared to be idling once he hit the front in the Class 5 handicap and should continue to give his owners fun over the coming months.
Alvaro Sainz was delighted to add a winner on his debut in England to previous victories in Fegentri races in Norway and France.
With his family having made the trip from Spain to support him he admitted “To ride a winner in this country at the first attempt is a dream come true”.
