Ghalyoon won comfortably at Salisbury on Saturday evening on his second start since joining the yard.

In landing a Class 5 Novice Stakes over seven furlongs in the colours of Sheikh Hamdan he was extending the superb record of the progeny of his dam Swiss Lake who was herself a highly talented racemare.

All eleven of her offspring to race have been successful. Between them they have won more than forty races and it will be surprising and disappointing if Ghalyoon does not add to that impressive score.

He showed great promise on his debut for Marcus Tregoning when keeping on well to finish second behind the smart three year old Nazeef at Newmarket late in June and showed the benefit of that experience by making virtually all the running at Salisbury on Saturday.

Ghalyoon, who has run only three times, showed a likeable attitude in readily seeing off the challenge of the 82 rated filly Posted by half a length.

He could be an interesting candidate for handicaps in the months ahead.
