IMPRESSIVE GOODWOOD WIN FOR SKYSAIL
We enjoyed our second success of the week in Sussex with the impressive victory of Skysail in a Class 4 handicap over a mile at Goodwood on Friday in the colours of Whitsbury 1.
A bonny chestnut colt by Tasleet, he was a useful two year old, winning nicely at Newbury in September on his second start before finding trouble in running in a huge field for a valuable sales race at Newmarket early in October.
Skysail had done well over the winter and looked to have a sporting chance on his handicap debut off a mark of 80 in first time blinkers to help him concentrate.
He travelled comfortably for Dougie Costello, began to make headway two out, led a furlong later and soon drew clear to win tidily by two lengths from Man of Eden despite being eased in the closing stages.
It was a thoroughly pleasing seasonal re-appearance by an improving colt who should continue to be competitive once the handicapper has had his say.
