IMPRESSIVE WIN AT NEWMARKET FOR POWER OF DARKNESS
Power of Darkness bounced back to form with an impressive victory in the feature race of the evening at Newmarket on Friday.
It was his first victory since his success in the Dubai Duty Free in the Shergar Cup at Ascot just over two years ago.
He was absent for almost a year after that notable triumph and also had wind surgery as a three year old.
So Power of Darkness has not been the easiest to train but Marcus Tregoning has always kept the faith and you could understand why as the six year old came from last to first on his way to winning the £14,000 Class three handicap over a mile.
At the line he was comfortably on top of the warm favourite Variyann.
Power of Darkness was given a big cheer by a lively crowd boosted by thousands who had come to see the regular Friday night concert at Newmarket.
Rated 98 at his peak he had run well on his last two starts and readily defied a mark of 90 in the hands of Dougie Costello.
