PEROTTO WINS AT GOODWOOD
The cosy success of Perotto at Goodwood on Monday was the fourth victory for the stable from ten runners since racing resumed resumed a fortnight ago.
The decision of Marcus Tregoning to turn the winner out again three days after his highly promising run at Newbury was stylishly vindicated as he beat his two rivals with plenty to spare.
The trainer is not known for backing up his two year olds so quickly after their debuts but the entry at Goodwood was made in case the ground at Newbury was too soft and the speedy colt appeared to be bouncing at home after finishing third on Friday.
Tregoning revealed “I’ve never run a two year old again so quickly but Perotto came out of the race particularly well, he has improved a lot and I was really confident even before two of the declared runners were withdrawn.
“It is very exciting for his owners Halcyon Thoroughbreds who joined us this season”.
Glorious Goodwood is always on the radar for Tregoning as he goes through the programme book and Perotto is likely to return to the track at next month’s meeting, most likely in the Molecomb Stakes.
