POWER OF DARKNESS RECORDS SECOND VICTORY AT SALISBURY

Power of Darkness gained the narrowest of successes on his first start in a Handicap at Salisbury on Wednesday.

A stylish winner at the course fifteen days ago he made life difficult for himself in the one mile £12,450 Molson Coors Handicap by a slightly tardy start.  But he made relentless progress on the outside to lead inside the final furlong before showing signs of inexperience by drifting right handed towards the far rail.

This gave the 16-1 outsider Wahash a second chance but Hayley Turner was alive to the danger and Power of Darkness rallied willingly to snatch the verdict by a nose.

Marcus Tregoning reasoned that it is always difficult for horses to come from off the pace on quick ground but he was upbeat about the improvement that Power of Darkness has made in recent weeks and is planning to enter him in the Betfred Mile at Glorious Goodwood.

“He is definitely worth an entry as he progressing and coming on well and learned more today”, said the trainer.
