Sadlers Beach doubled her score for the season with a spirited success in a Class 6 handicap over a mile and a quarter at Bath on Wednesday evening.

Raised 5lbs for a comfortable victory at the same course forty days ago she had to dig deep to prevail in a sustained duel with Perfect Grace over the final two furlongs.

Sadlers Beach looked sure to triumph when she moved upsides the leader in the straight travelling strongly but Perfect Grace was back in front again inside the final furlong before the favourite rallied late on to claim the verdict by a neck.

Marcus Tregoning suggested that Roy Kingston’s jaunty filly is improving steadily and could be suited by stepping up another couple of furlongs in trip in the months ahead.

He said “She is pretty tough, handles fast ground and is getting better with experience”.

Sadlers Beach is now unbeaten in two runs on turf ridden by Hayley Turner who was the subject of high praise from Kingston as she came back to unsaddle.
