Sir Titan doubled his score for the season with another fluent success at Goodwood on Sunday in a Class 3 £10,000 Handicap ridden by Hayley Turner.

Sixteen days ago they made all the running over course and distance over seven furlongs for a narrow triumph which saw the gelding raised 4 lbs to a mark of 84.

This time Hayley had Sir Titan poised on the rail in third place before making a decisive move approaching the final furlong.

The horse eased through a nice gap before quickening to lead one hundred yards and pulling one and a half lengths ahead of Easy Tiger.

Sir Titan has now won four times from eleven starts and is clearly at the top of his game with a return to Goodwood likely in the weeks ahead.

Hopes that Marcus Tregoning might enjoy a double at his favourite racecourse were dashed when his consistent stayer Imphal encountered trouble in running at a crucial stage of the Maywal Handicap.

The winner Mancini was gone beyond recall by the time Imphal found daylight but the way he then finished strongly from the rear to claim third place was highly encouraging for the future.
