STYLISH SKYSAIL WINS AT NEWBURY
Skysail gained a stylish victory in his second start in a competitive six furlong maiden at Newbury on Friday.
Having shown notable promise when second on his debut at Windsor late in August he used that experience to good effect as he put his seal on the race in the closing stages.
Always nicely placed towards the stands side he was produced by Dougie Costello to lead a furlong out and kept on strongly to hold the late challenge of Dark Trooper by half a length.
Skysail runs in the colours of Whitsbury I and was well bought by Marcus Tregoning for 16,000 guineas at Tattersalls October Book 3 sale considering that his dam Lady Mark won six times.
Several of the yard’s juveniles have run encouragingly in recent weeks and shortly after the success of Skysail two more of his stable companions gave hope for the future when finishing third and fourth in a seven furlong fillies conditions race.
Secret Solace was the more streetwise of the pair in finishing third to two previous winners. Marie Laveau was slowly away and ran green in the early stages before finishing with gusto in the final furlong.
