STYLISH WIN FOR QUIETNESS
Quietness justified the long journey North from Whitsbury by landing the feature race of the day at Thirsk on Friday in great style.
She made every yard of the running in the hands of Joe Fanning in the Class 3 Handicap held in memory of Laura Barry, began to stretch clear two furlongs and kept on resolutely to win with something to spare at her first attempt at a mile and a half.
In landing the first prize of £8,100 Quietness was winning for the fourth time in five starts this season.
She has made relentless progress since joining Marcus Tregoning. Her first victory at Windsor in May came off a handicap mark of 68 and she was running off 85 at Thirsk.
Tregoning can expect a further hike in the handicap rating of Quietness before her next race. Given the way she was galloping on strongly in the closing stages on Friday without being hard ridden her trainer has the option of stepping her up further in trip as the season unfolds.
