Freckles doubled her score for the season with a resolute success at Chepstow on her first attempt at ten furlongs on Monday.

She is progressing nicely with experience, is settling better in her races and benefited from a patient ride by Oisin Murphy who switched her off at the back of the field from the off.

Freckles then made steady headway towards the leader Essenaitch a quarter of a mile from home before edging ahead over a furlong out and keeping on well to hold the persistent challenge of Arctic Sea by a length and a half.

She races in the colours of her enthusiastic owners John and Heather Raw who also bred her.

Freckles was unlucky to lose out by a short head on soft ground at Newbury seventeen days earlier and was gaining deserved compensation at Chepstow off a mark of 66.

She has scope for further improvement now that she is more relaxed in her races.
