SUCCESS AT WINDSOR FOR AL KHAWANEEJ RIVER
Al Khawaneej River broke his duck with a cosy success under top weight in a Class 6 handicap over just shy of a mile and a half at Windsor on Saturday evening in the colours of his trainer.
An attractive gelding by Dariyan he was fulfilling the promise he showed when third over a mile and a quarter on heavy ground at Goodwood at the start of the month.
The step up in trip at Windsor clearly suited Al Khawaneej River who was given an uncomplicated ride by Dougie Costello in a race that turned into a bit of a sprint.
Costello produced him with a well timed challenge down the course that saw them gain a ready success by one and a quarter lengths from the joint top weight Thrilling Dream.
Given that Al Khawaneej River was racing off a modest mark of 60 and did not win by a wide margin his owner trainer should have plenty of fun with him this summer.
