SUCCESS FOR CORRIAMO AT LEICESTER
Corriamo rewarded strong market support with a cosy success on his handicap debut in a seven furlong Class 6 nursery at Leicester in the colours of Aurelius Racing on Sunday.
A bargain buy who cost £12,000 at Tattersalls December yearling sales he had shown promise on all the three starts and didn’t seem overburdened with an opening make of 63.
Marcus Tregoning was clearly delighted with the performance of the son of Mohaather who enjoyed a brilliant career at Whitsbury before retiring to stud.
Corriamo was slowly away and didn’t handle coming down the hill before scything through the pack in eye-catching style on his way to beating Liberty Bird by a length.
In an interview with racing TV Tregoning expressed his hopes that Sunday’s winner could develop into a useful campaigner next season.
“With the make and shape of him I’d like to think he is the seed corn for next year.
“It’s lovely to see Mohaather’s progeny going so well”, he said.
