TELL WILLIAM WINS AT NEWBURY
Tell William gained deserved reward for his consistency with the narrowest of victories in a fiercely competitive mile handicap at Newbury on Saturday.
He has run well on all three starts this season and seemed to appreciate dropping back to a mile last time when just caught in the final strides at Bath.
Tell William was raised 1lb to a mark of 75 for that solid performance and was sent off the 5-2 favourite at Newbury where a tardy start left him facing an uphill task.
But Andrea Atzeni saved precious ground by keeping his mount tight to the rail and Tell William made relentless ground in the straight before prevailing by a short head from Kingston Kurrajong.
It was the second career success for the four year old gelding who runs in the colours of Rupert Villiers.
