Monaadhil maintained the fine form of the team with an impressive winning debut in a mile maiden on rain softened ground at Leicester on Monday.

An attractive, well made gelding by Dark Angel he readily overcame a tardy start, was soon handily placed behind the leaders and quickened up smartly in the final furlong to beat Wonderfillo by half a length.

It was a highly encouraging performance by a horse who should have more to offer as he gains experience.

Marcus Tregoning was clearly delighted as he said “Monaadhil was very fit having done plenty of work but I couldn’t be sure he would handle this ground.

“Although he will get a mile and a quarter in time his jockey Jim Crowley felt a mile was probably far enough for him for the moment.

“It was encouraging to hear Jim say Monaadhil is a nice type who has a very good mind.

“We will take it step by step and see how he handles faster ground because I think he might have a bit more in the tank.”
