IMPRESSIVE WINNING DEBUT FOR MORGHOM
Morghom made a highly pleasing winning debut in a division of the Class 4 mile maiden at Newbury on Saturday in the colours of the Shadwell Estate Company.
An attractive, well balanced chestnut colt by Dubawi out of a mare who has produced six previous winners, his start was efficient and he could soon be spotted travelling smoothly just off the pace.
Showing little sign of inexperience Morghom was taken into the lead by Jim Crowley well over a furlong out and quickly bounded clear despite edging a little left in the closing stages.
At the line he was fully three and three quarter lengths ahead of Zabeir with Ebtihaaj a neck away third.
It was an undeniably impressive performance by Morghom who was described by Marcus Tregoning as an exciting prospect who should be much sharper for the experience.
“He has shown plenty of speed here and galloped straight through the line indicating that a mile is fine for him and I imagine there were plenty of nice horses behind him.
“He settles nicely, is a great shape and has a good, powerful action so hopefully he can go on from this excellent start”, he added.
