ANOTHER WIN FOR MARGUB AT WOLVERHAMPTON
It was good to see Margub make up for lost time with a determined success on Tuesday evening in a Class 3 handicap over seven furlongs at Wolverhampton that he also won two years ago.
He has spent the last two seasons as lead horse for our brilliant miler Mohaather and was so good at good at his job that we felt he was too valuable to race in his own right.
Now that Mohaather is at stud I’m so pleased to see Margub enjoying life back on the racecourse.
He ran a race full of promise at Chelmsford earlier in the month after a break of 634 days before tiring late on.
He was all the sharper for that outing on Tuesday, tracked the leader Gobi Sunset from the start, edged ahead inside the final furlong and kept on willingly to win a shade snugly by three quarters of a length.
An attractive chestnut with a willing attitude Margub is clearly useful, doesn’t want the ground too firm, seems to appreciate going round bends and acts well on the polytrack surface. He should continue to be competitive once the handicapper has had his say.
