GHALYOON WINS AT CHELMSFORD
Ghalyoon gained an overdue first success of the year with a narrow victory in a Class 2 handicap over seven furlongs under the floodlights on a chilly evening at Chelmsford on Thursday.
Despite still being still a bit too keen for his own good at the age of five the speedy son of Invincible Spirit has gone tantalisingly close on all his three starts in 2020.
He looked particularly unlucky last time at Lingfield when he dashed to the front on the inside rail before caught in the final strides by Documenting who was racing in the centre of the course.
Raised 1lb for that defeat Ghalyoon was again very free in the rear the early stages on Thursday before mounting a strong late challenge that took him to the front close home. He finished so well that he was a length clear of Mohareb at the line.
Marcus should continue to have some fun with Ghalyoon and has the tempting option of dropping him down in trip to six furlongs at some point.
